Christiaan de Bruin is an attending pediatric endocrinologist at Leiden University Medical Center, the Netherlands. He received his medical training at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, followed by post-graduate (PhD) research into novel medical therapies of Cushing’s disease. After completion of pediatric residency at Radboud University (Nijmegen), he did his clinical fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the USA, under the directorship of Professor Philippe Backeljauw and Dr. Andrew Dauber, director of the Cincinnati Center for Growth Disorders. During this period his research activities focused on the use of advanced genetic testing in rare growth disorders (both short and tall stature), which is also the main focus of his current research at Leiden University.
