DE LOOZE

Margaretha de Looze is Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She gained her PhD from this University in 2013 for her research on the social and cultural context of adolescent risk behaviour. Her PhD thesis was based on the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study, a WHO collaborative cross-national study on adolescent health and health behaviours. Since 2008, Margaretha has been a member of the Dutch HBSC team. Within the HBSC network, she leads the study’s writing group on gender, and she has played active role as a member of the Risk Behaviour focus group. Furthermore, she is (co-)author of various national and international reports of the study. Her current research mainly focuses on three core areas: (1) adolescent substance use; (2) adolescent sexual behaviour; and (3) adolescent well-being. Besides conducting research, she teaches courses on psychology, adolescent sexuality, and philosophy of science.
