Gijs Elshout is a General Practitioner and employed as an assistant professor at the Department of General Practice at the Erasmus MC University Medical Center Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He received his PhD in 2015 on the subject ‘Febrile children in primary care.’ He gave numerous lectures on this topic. Furthermore, he was involved in the revision of the Dutch General Practitioners’ guideline concerning fever in children.Currently, he works as project leader in research on various topics concerning children in primary care (e.g. allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis). He is also the head of student education of the department. Besides this, he still works as a General Practitioner in the Netherlands.
