Dr Carolina Fischinger is a Medical Geneticist at the Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre, Brazil. She treats patients with neurogenetic disorders and inborn errors of metabolism, including lysosomal storage and other disorders. Dr Fischinger went on to specialize in Medical Genetics and completed her PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2005. She specializes in inborn errors of metabolism. Dr Fischinger has been the President of the Medical Genetic Society and is current Vice President of SBTEIM (Brazilian Society for Neonatal Screening and Inborn Errors of Metabolism). She is also a member of the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism (SSIEM), the Brazilian Medical Genetic Society (SBGM), and the Latin American Society of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Neonatal screening (SLEIMP).
