Graduated in Medicine at the University of Hasselt and the KU Leuven, Prof. Huysentruyt specialized in pediatrics at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He followed his pediatrician career in the specialization of pediatric gastroenterology at the UZ Brussel, the Catholic University of Leuven (UCL) and the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada.In 2016, he defended his PhD "disease-related undernutrition in hospitalized children" and he also graduated as a biostatistician in 2021. He currently holds the position of Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel in Brussels Region, Belgium. His main clinical interests include pediatric general gastroenterology and nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease and hepatology.
