About

MORGAN

I am a neonatologist and clinical academic interested in the organisation of care for babies born very (<33 weeks gestational age) and extremely (<27 weeks gestational age) preterm and their outcomes later in life, and in the methodological tools required. My research focuses on generating knowledge about best practices for the care of births at these gestations. An international perspective is central to the project as high practice variation between countries provides an opportunity to assess both the consequences of different care strategies in real-life settings and the contextual factors that may affect associations and the generalisability of study findings. My research program is organised into three components: understanding practices (observational – using the RECAP Preterm platform), assessing therapies and interventions (interventional – using follow-up of the TREOCAPA and other randomised controlled trial), and enhancing the methodological approaches required for this (e.g. by developing DataSHIELD, a suite of tools for federated analyses of remote data).
