Prof. W. Hamish B. Wallace is Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh and formerly served as Consultant Paediatric Oncologist at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh from 1992 until his retirement from clinical practice in 2022. Over a 30-year career in pediatric oncology, he has made significant contributions to clinical care, education, and research.His primary research interests include fertility preservation in young people undergoing cancer treatment and the clinical management of Hodgkin lymphoma in children and adolescents. He led the Edinburgh fertility preservation program for young patients with cancer, with a particular focus on ovarian tissue cryopreservation. This work has resulted in a series of influential publications that have informed international practice and policy in oncofertility.Prof. Wallace has authored or co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed research articles and four academic books. His scholarly impact is reflected in a h-index of 89 and an i10-index of 215, underscoring the wide relevance of his work across pediatric oncology and reproductive medicine.In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Prof. Wallace has contributed to the training of numerous pediatric oncologists and has been active in advancing standards of care for young people with cancer, both in the UK and internationally. Although now retired from clinical work, he remains engaged in academic activities and continues to contribute to research and mentorship in the field.
