STEPIEN

Dr Karolina M Stepien completed her training in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine in Greater Manchester. She trained at the Willink Biochemical Genetics Unit in Manchester, Adult Inherited Metabolic Diseases Departments in Salford and Queen's Square in London. She worked in the National Centre for Inherited Metabolic Diseases in Dublin and, in 2018, joined the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust team as a Consultant in Adult Metabolic Medicine. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester.Her special interests include Inherited Metabolic Diseases (IMD), Endocrinology and transitioning from paediatric to adult care. She has clinical responsibilities in both general metabolic and lysosomal storage disorders. Dr Stepien is the principal investigator of a number of academic and commercial studies on treatments for IMD in adults. A particular interest relates to understanding IMD's natural history, disease progression, and long-term outcomes in adults. Dr Stepien is an author of over 70 papers and book chapters in metabolic medicine and serves as a peer reviewer and a guest editor for Frontiers in Genetics, Journal of Clinical Medicine, Genes and Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Karolina-Stepien
